What we believe and do

East Finchley Baptist Church is an independent evangelical church - independent in that we are not part of a denominational organisation, and 'evangelical' in terms of our belief in the truth of the doctrines of the Bible. East Finchley Baptist is a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC).

As a church we aim to help people become mature followers of Christ. To this end there are 3 basic purposes at the heart of all we do:-

To Grow/Maturity - we want people to be growing in their faith, becoming faithful & mature followers of Jesus. We believe that the Bible is God's word and so we take its message seriously. In our meetings & small groups we encourage one another to understand what God is saying to us, & apply it to our lives so that we can be built up as disciples of Jesus.

To Serve/Ministry - we believe that we're called to be involved in God's work everywhere. This means helping & serving one another in the church with our gifts and abilities, as well as serving God in our work. We also seek to send out & support people who are serving God in this country & overseas.

To Reach Out/Mission - we believe that the good news of Jesus is for everyone. That means we work actively to share what we have discovered with others.

We meet for our Sunday church gathering at 10.30am on a Sunday morning each week, with activities for children, and young people during the service. Central to our time together is the opportunity to hear from God's words to us in the Bible, and to understand how God would want us to live for Him in all the different situations and circumstances of our lives. Our Sunday morning gathering includes time for singing, as well as prayer, and church family news.

On the first Sunday of the month we have a church lunch after our morning service. This often includes an opportunity for group discussion looking at the Bible and our contemporary lives, & issues. On the 3rd Sunday of the month we have a discussion focus from 5.45 - 7pm at the church.
